This course looks at the existing urban challenges in cities which are mainly the consequences of climate change. It looks at the three economic, social and environmental dimensions and brings real-life examples and evidences. It then introduces the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and very briefly explains the concept of resilient cities.

As an architect, an environmental psychologist and an urban designer, Negin Minaei is well aware of the different ways in which design can affect peoples' lives. She is also well placed to take advantage of the latest scientific research in the psychological, physiological and social dimensions of design practice, having taught sustainable architecture and design as a senior lecturer at universities since 2000.
Negin designed a course called 'Sustainable Smart Cities' and have taught it for 2years to the MEng students at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Windsor and now opening her course to other interested institutes and students.
Negin's 'Smart Cities' book was published by Taylor&Francis, CRC Press in 2022 and was selected by Tomorrow Cities as one of the top 10 books in Smart Cities in the field of Urban Planning and was recommended by the Syllabus and Good Reads.
